Grooved Industrial Swage Block
Grooved Industrial Swage Block:
This block has several unusual features that were probably made for specific use in an industrial shop such as a rail road shop where they had their own captive foundry and pattern maker to make such things.
The unusual features are the grooves crossing the holes on the drag side of the pattern.
These grooves include a large square for making a shoulder or boss on square stock.
There is also a round on the upper right that is more than 180°.
These features would have required special cores and core prints off the grooved shapes and are more difficult to cast than most blocks.
169.5 Lbs. (77kg) 13" x 15" and is 5" inches thick (330 x 381 x 127mm)
The smaller groove measures 1-3/4 inches (44mm) wide the the larger groove is 3 inches (76mm).
